54 The parashiyot

The annual cycle — the same section read the same week, everywhere.

The Torah is divided into fifty-four sections read over the year, one per week, and completed at Simhat Torah to begin again at once. It is the only content on this site endowed with a clock: a community in Casablanca, Vilnius, or Buenos Aires reads the same page the same week, and that is a fact of collective Memory before it is a religious fact.

Each note says what the section brings to Memory and genealogy — what it founds, what it transmits, what lineages attach themselves to. These are not commentaries: the site settles no controversy and does not preach.
