Moses blesses the tribes one last time, sees the land without entering it, and dies; "no one has ever known his burial place". The greatest prophet has no identifiable sepulcher — no place of worship possible around his person. The section is read at Simhat Torah, the day when the scroll is rewound and Bereshit is immediately begun again: the cycle never closes.
