Os 11,7–12,12

The people receives its name in the course of a nocturnal combat whose adversary remains without identity: Israel, "he has struggled". The collective name is born of a wound and a resistance, not of a victory. Rachel dies on the way and her tomb, on the road to Bethlehem, will become one of the most constant pilgrimage sites of Jewish Memory. The reconciliation with Esau takes place, without the separation being undone.
