The section of reproaches enumerates the misfortunes of exile with a precision that persecuted generations reread as a mirror. But it ends on a memory: "I will remember my covenant with Jacob". The word zakhor — to remember — carries here its heaviest weight: memory is what prevents the rupture from being definitive.
