The warning against forgetting, the manna, the land described.

Hebrew name

Book
Deuteronomy
Verses
Dt 7,12–11,25
Haftara
Is 49,14–51,3

The danger that the section designates is not persecution but prosperity: "take heed lest thou forget," when thou hast eaten and built. Forgetfulness is named as the principal threat, and remembrance as a discipline to be maintained in affluence. It is the most direct argument that the Bible furnishes to the idea that a memory must be actively maintained.
