The Shoah (1939–1945)

Prague declared cleared of its Jews

1943·Prague

Toll
bilan non établi

The toll is reproduced exactly as the source states it — never rounded, never added to another. Tolls overlap from one event to the next.

The Protectorate administration announces that the capital is rid of its Jewish inhabitants; only employees of the reduced community, spouses of mixed marriages, and staff of the ritual objects depot remain.

The Protectorate authorities declare Prague emptied of its Jews, following the last convoys of spring. The formula is administrative and false: there remain persons from mixed marriages, hidden children, and the reduced staff of the Jewish council and the museum. The community's archives, centuries old, are stored away. The city that had carried the Maharal and the Hebrew printing press of Bohemia is declared free of its Jews by a report.
