The Jews were expelled from Brünn, in the wake of the preachings of Jean de Capistran in Moravia.
The royal cities of Moravia then obtained from the king the privilege of no longer tolerating Jews within their walls, and this privilege held until the nineteenth century. The expelled settled in the seigneurial towns of the region, where they formed the rural communities that Moravia retained until the modern era.
