The community of Eger was burned during the Black Death.

The imperial city, today Cheb in Bohemia, was then pledged to the king of Bohemia by the Empire; the Jewish quarter was destroyed and its site rebuilt, the synagogue becoming a place of Christian worship, following a common practice after these massacres.
