The community of Znaim, in Moravia, was destroyed during the Black Death.

The city, on the road from Vienna to Prague, appears in the lists of Moravian communities annihilated; Moravian Judaism reconstituted itself afterward and was driven from the royal towns in the following century, to retreat into seigneurial market towns, where it formed one of the densest Jewish communities in Central Europe.
