the community destroyed
The community of Pilsen was destroyed during the Black Death.
The royal city of western Bohemia appears in the lists of annihilated communities; its Jewish life rebuilt itself slowly and was again expelled from the royal cities in the fifteenth century.
Pilsen held the road from Bohemia toward Nuremberg and Ratisbonne, and its Jews lived from the credit of the merchants who traveled that route; the wave coming from Germany followed exactly this road, and the cities of the western kingdom were struck before Prague.
