The community of Sangerhausen, in Thuringia, was destroyed during the Black Death.

It appears in the lists of communities in the region annihilated in the same weeks as those of Nordhausen and Mühlhausen.

The town, at the foot of the Kyffhäuser, lived from the copper of the nearby mines; the Jewish community lent to the operators, and its disappearance deprived the region of its credit for a generation.
