Amsterdam police arrested Jewish families at their homes, neighborhood by neighborhood, for Westerbork.

In Amsterdam, the occupier abandons the summons for the roundup: the German police, assisted by the Dutch municipal police, surround city blocks at nightfall and take away entire families. Specially chartered trams bring those arrested to the Dutch theater converted into a gathering place, then to the station bound for Westerbork. These nocturnal operations were repeated until the following year.
