The Shoah (1939–1945)
Clashes in the Jewish quarter of Amsterdam
11 févr. 1941·Amsterdam, quartier juif
The toll is reproduced exactly as the source states it — never rounded, never added to another. Tolls overlap from one event to the next.
Dutch groups loyal to the occupier attack the old Jewish quarter of Amsterdam; one attacker is mortally wounded.
Dutch formations loyal to the occupier repeatedly enter the old Jewish quarter of Amsterdam to ransack cafés and shops. Self-defense groups form among the residents and stand their ground; during one of these confrontations, an attacker is mortally wounded. The occupier seizes upon this pretext to seal off the quarter and launch the reprisals that will lead, a few days later, to the first roundup in the Netherlands.
