Mike's Place is a seaside bar in Tel-Aviv, neighboring the United States Embassy, frequented by musicians and an international clientele. The charge exploded at the entrance, the bouncer having blocked the way.
The attack is distinguished by the identity of its perpetrators: two British nationals, who entered Israel on their European passports and were recruited outside the region. It revealed an internationalization of recruitment that alarmed the intelligence services of several countries and modified border control procedures. The bar reopened shortly afterward, a gesture that became in Tel-Aviv a form of collective response to terrorist attacks.
