The German administration gathers in Prague the ritual objects, books and archives of the destroyed communities of the Protectorate; Jewish conservators are tasked with cataloging them before being deported themselves.

A central Jewish museum is established in Prague by the occupying power, which has religious objects seized from the emptied synagogues of the Protectorate brought together there. Jewish curators, themselves threatened with deportation, are tasked with inventorying and cataloguing these collections. They work with a method that far exceeds the assignment they were given, and in doing so preserve the trace of entire communities. Most of them will be deported before the end of the war; the Prague collections are today one of the largest holdings of Jewish objects in Europe.
