Every Jew in the Netherlands must wear the star sewn onto their clothes.
The wearing of the yellow star is imposed on the Jews of the Netherlands: each person must purchase it and sew it visibly onto their clothing, on pain of internment. Non-Jews wore it in solidarity during the first days and were arrested. The marking, applied to a population already enumerated and individually registered by name, made any ordinary life outside the home impossible and facilitated the roundups launched a few weeks later.
