The first deportation train leaves Westerbork camp for Auschwitz.
The first deportation convoy departs from the Westerbork camp toward Auschwitz. The deportees, summoned by the Jewish council or rounded up in the streets of Amsterdam, had been ordered to bring work clothes. From that date and for two years, a train left Westerbork almost every week, on Tuesdays, bound for Auschwitz, Sobibor, Theresienstadt, or Bergen-Belsen. The list of those departing was drawn up the evening before, within the camp itself.
