French police arrest foreign Jewish families in Paris and confine them to the Vel' d'Hiv' before their transfer to the Loiret.
In the early morning hours of the sixteenth of July, the French police arrest Jewish foreign families throughout the capital and its suburbs — families listed in the prefecture's files. Single individuals and childless couples are taken to Drancy; families are held for several days in the velodrome of the fifteenth arrondissement, without water, without medical care, beneath the glass roof of July. From there they depart for the camps of the Loiret, where mothers are soon separated from their children. The roundup is carried out entirely by French police officers.
