The Shoah (1939–1945)

Attacks on the synagogues of Paris

2-3 oct. 1941·Paris (synagogues)

Toll
bilan non établi

The toll is reproduced exactly as the source states it — never rounded, never added to another. Tolls overlap from one event to the next.

Explosive devices are placed the same night against several Parisian synagogues.

In the night of the second of October, several Parisian synagogues are dynamited almost simultaneously — rue de la Victoire, rue des Tournelles, rue Pavée, rue Copernic, rue Notre-Dame-de-Nazareth, avenue Montespan. The operation is carried out by militants of the Mouvement social révolutionnaire, using explosives supplied by the German services in Paris. The German military commander feigns surprise and allows the collaborationist press to attribute the bombings to popular anger. No prosecution will succeed. The places of worship in the capital will for the most part not reopen until after the Liberation.
