Jews shot in the street and homes looted

In the month of April, during the capture of the city by the Polish army, Jews were shot in the streets of Vilna and houses were looted.

The city was then contested between Poland, Lithuania, and the Bolsheviks, and each takeover resulted in violence. For the community, the question of which state it would belong to remained open for years, with none of the possible answers offering any guarantee.
