Sukkah decoration in cut paper from Galicia — היסטאָרישע אָביעקטן

באַשרַייבונג

Large symmetrical cut paper suspended on the walls of the Sukkot hut. Lions, eagles, menorahs, vases and blessing inscriptions are pierced with a penknife in a folded sheet, sometimes enhanced with colours. Ashkenazi folk art from Galicia and Poland, it adorns the sukkah with images of the Temple and verses from the festival.
