Le soir du séder de Pessah, un homme entre dans la salle à manger du Park Hotel, à Netanya, où plus de deux cents convives — beaucoup de personnes âgées et des rescapés de la Shoah — s'apprêtaient à lire la Haggadah, et fait exploser sa charge au milieu des tables.

C'est l'attentat le plus meurtrier de la seconde Intifada ; il est appelé en Israël « le massacre du séder ». Il déclenche, quelques jours plus tard, l'opération Rempart, la plus vaste intervention militaire israélienne en Cisjordanie depuis le début de l'occupation, et ferme la période ouverte par les négociations.
