Attack — Netanya, market
19 mai 2002·Netanya, marché
The toll is reproduced exactly as the source states it — never rounded, never added to another. Tolls overlap from one event to the next.
The Netanya market, located in the very center of the city, was one of the most frequented places on the coastal plain on Sunday mornings.
A man disguised as an Israeli soldier entered it and detonated his charge in the middle of the stalls. Shoppers were killed, dozens of others wounded. Netanya had now been struck for the third time in the space of a few months.
The use of a military uniform to approach the target, which appeared during this period, led to a modification of security directives throughout the country, where the uniform had until then been a guarantee of harmlessness.
