The Jewish community of Frisia is arrested in Leeuwarden and deported via Westerbork.
In Leeuwarden, capital of Friesland, the Jewish community was summoned and then deported via Westerbork. Frisian farmers hid a significant number of children and adults in the countryside, and the province was among those where the Dutch rescue networks were most active. The synagogue of Leeuwarden, deconsecrated after the war due to lack of worshippers, stands today as the sole witness to the community that built it.
