Throughout the year, the German police continue arresting Jews in Gironde, now targeting French families and children in foster care. Those apprehended are interned at the Mérignac camp and then transferred to Drancy. Convoys also depart directly from Bordeaux toward the Paris region. The city's Portuguese community, long protected by its historical roots and diplomatic efforts, is no longer spared.
