French police arrest foreign Jews in the town and take them to camps in the region.
At the end of August, the prefecture of Haute-Garonne ordered the arrest of foreign Jews within its jurisdiction as part of the deliveries promised to the occupier. The families were gathered at the Caffarelli barracks and then transferred to Drancy. The Archbishop of Toulouse had a letter read from the pulpit throughout his diocese publicly condemning these arrests, a text that then circulated clandestinely throughout France and was broadcast by Radio London.
