Killing

The Ozar Hatorah school, on rue Jules-Dalou in Toulouse, welcomed primary and secondary school pupils. On the morning of 19 March 2012, a man on a scooter stopped in front of the gate at the time children were arriving and shot dead a teacher, his two young sons, and the headmaster's daughter, who was pursued into the courtyard. The perpetrator, Mohammed Merah, had already killed three soldiers in Montauban and Toulouse in the preceding days; he was killed at the end of the siege of his apartment. The massacre was the deadliest attack targeting Jews in France since the Second World War, and it opened a decade marked by other attacks of the same kind against French Jewish targets. The school has been renamed Ohr Torah.
