The Shoah (1939–1945)
Roundups in Toulouse and Haute-Garonne
1943·Toulouse et la Haute-Garonne
The toll is reproduced exactly as the source states it — never rounded, never added to another. Tolls overlap from one event to the next.
A new wave of arrests strikes the city and the camps of the department.
After the occupation of the southern zone, the German police established themselves in Toulouse and pursued the arrest of Jews throughout the district, both French and foreign. The camps of Noé, Récébédou, and Septfonds were emptied in stages, and those apprehended were directed to Drancy via Saint-Sulpice. The Southwest had harbored escape networks toward Spain, several of which were dismantled over the course of the year.
