The Jewish community of Haarlem is arrested and deported via Westerbork.
The community of Haarlem, one of the oldest in North Holland, was deported in successive convoys. Summonses were delivered to homes by the Dutch municipal police, who also escorted deportees to the stations. The great synagogue was closed, its ritual objects seized. A few families found refuge in the dunes and farms of the nearby coast; the vast majority of the community never returned.
