The Jewish community of Groningen is arrested and driven to Westerbork camp.
The community of Groningue, the largest in the north of the Netherlands and seat of a regional rabbinate, is rounded up and taken to Westerbork. The Jewish villages of the province, where families had lived from the cattle trade for generations, are emptied in the same movement. The Dutch north, which had one of the strongest rural Jewish presences in Western Europe, lost with it a communal fabric of several centuries.
