The Shoah (1939–1945)

First Deportation Convoy from France

27 mars 1942·Drancy (premier convoi)

Toll
bilan non établi

The toll is reproduced exactly as the source states it — never rounded, never added to another. Tolls overlap from one event to the next.

The first deportation train leaves Le Bourget station for Auschwitz.

The convoy that departs from the Bourget-Drancy station on the morning of the twenty-seventh day of March inaugurates the deportation of the Jews of France to Upper Silesia. It carries men who have been interned since the previous autumn, half of them rounded up in Paris in the month of August and half of them brought from Compiègne. The journey is made in third-class carriages; the convoys that follow will travel in cattle wagons. Almost none of these deportees will return. This departure opens a series that will not be interrupted until the Liberation.
