Pogrom upon the entry of Polish troops
août 1919·Minsk
The toll is reproduced exactly as the source states it — never rounded, never added to another. Tolls overlap from one event to the next.
Jewish houses looted, inhabitants killed
In the month of August, the entry of Polish troops into Minsk was accompanied by the looting of Jewish homes and the murder of inhabitants.
Minsk had been struck fourteen years earlier during the pogrom of the October Manifesto, by Russian troops. Here it is struck by the Polish army. The city would change hands again before the border was fixed, and its community would have known three different armies in its streets within a decade.
