the community destroyed when the city was taken
The community of Pinsk was destroyed during the capture of the city, as the uprising spread through Polesia and Lithuania.
Pinsk reconstituted itself and became, in the following century, one of the great centers of Lithuanian Judaism. This is the constant feature of this history: the communities of the Republic, however completely they were destroyed, reformed themselves, because the nobility needed them to administer its lands and no other population was willing to do so.
