In Mohylev, during the Russo-Polish War, the Jews of the city were led outside the walls and massacred.
The "Deluge" — the simultaneous invasion of the Republic by Muscovy, Sweden, and Transylvania — extended by seven years the destruction begun with the Cossack uprising. The Jews were struck by all the belligerents: as agents of the Polish lords by some, as enemy subjects or supposed collaborators by others.
