Le procès dit du « Saint enfant de La Guardia » réunit des Juifs et des conversos accusés d'avoir crucifié un enfant et d'avoir volé une hostie pour un maléfice destiné à faire mourir les chrétiens.

Aucun enfant ne fut jamais porté disparu, aucun corps ne fut retrouvé, et les aveux se contredisaient. Les accusés furent jugés à Ávila et brûlés. La sentence, imprimée et diffusée, servit d'argument aux Rois Catholiques : le décret d'expulsion, signé quelques mois plus tard, invoque le danger que les Juifs feraient courir à la foi des convertis. Un procès fabriqué fonda la décision.
