The Jews were expelled from Ravenna.
The city belonged to the Papal States through the bequest of Romagna, and the expulsion there was the work of the commune rather than the pope, who continued to tolerate Jews in Rome. This distinction between papal policy and that of the Italian cities would hold until the mid-sixteenth century, when the popes themselves would turn to ghettos.
