The Jews were expelled from Parma.
The duchy belonged at that time to the Milanese, and its cities followed the movement of the other cities of northern Italy; the countryside, however, continued to shelter Jewish moneylenders, received by the local lords, and it was this Judaism of the small towns that survived until the era of the ghettos.
