The Jews were expelled from the bishopric of Wurtzbourg.

The prince-bishop was both temporal lord and ecclesiastical authority, and it was as lord that he drove them out, having levied extraordinary taxes on his Jews for years. Franconia would nonetheless remain, in the following century, one of the regions of Germany where rural Judaism would be most dense, sheltered by the Imperial knights in exchange for dues.
