An accusation of ritual murder was brought in Wurtzbourg, and the community was attacked.

This is the year in which Luther's pamphlet against the Jews appeared in Saxony, demanding that their synagogues and books be burned and that they be driven out; several Protestant princes used it as justification for expulsion. The Reformation had therefore not improved their condition: it had only divided the Christendom that judged them.
