À Cordoue, la juiverie fut incendiée et pillée dans les jours qui suivirent l'assaut de Séville.

La ville avait été, quatre siècles plus tôt, la capitale d'un califat où Hasdaï ibn Chaprut fut ministre et où le judaïsme espagnol connut son âge d'or ; elle était la patrie de Maïmonide. La synagogue de Cordoue, l'une des trois synagogues médiévales conservées en Espagne, avait été bâtie une génération avant ce jour-là ; elle a survécu à la destruction de la communauté qui l'avait élevée.
