Zemun (Semlin) est une ancienne ville frontalière austro-ottomane sur le Danube (aujourd'hui dans la banlieue de Belgrade) où une communauté juive est attestée depuis le XVIIIe siècle, jouant un rôle d'intermédiaire commercial entre les deux empires. Durant la Seconde Guerre mondiale, un camp d'extermination y fut établi sur le site du Sajmište.
