Zaghouan, a mountain city in north-central Tunisia, famous for its Roman springs, welcomed a small Jewish community during the Ottoman and French periods. Jewish families there devoted themselves mainly to crafts, peddling and small commerce. This community, like most Jews of provincial Tunisia, emigrated to Tunis then to Israel and France during the 20th century.
