Uşak, centre textile de l'Anatolie occidentale, est mentionné dans les registres fiscaux ottomans (defterler) comme siège d'une communauté juive aux XVIe–XIXe siècles. Les Juifs y étaient engagés dans le commerce des laines et des tapis.
