Turda (Thorenburg en allemand), ville de Transylvanie centrale connue pour ses salines, abritait une communauté juive dont les membres étaient notamment impliqués dans le commerce du sel et l'industrie locale. La communauté fut deportée à Auschwitz en 1944.
