Stara Zagora est une ville de Bulgarie centrale. Une communauté juive séfarade y est attestée depuis la période ottomane, avec une synagogue longtemps l'une des plus actives de la région ; la communauté put survivre à la Seconde Guerre mondiale, la Bulgarie n'ayant pas déporté ses Juifs.
