Šalčininkai (Soletchnik en yiddish), ville du sud de la Lituanie, abritait une communauté juive depuis le XVIIIe siècle, active dans le commerce local. Après l'occupation allemande de 1941, les Juifs de la ville furent assassinés lors de fusillades de masse, comme dans la plupart des shtetlekh de Lituanie.
