Ancienne ville impériale d'Alsace, Rosheim a abrité une communauté juive médiévale documentée depuis le XIVe siècle et une présence continue jusqu'à la Révolution. Un mikvé médiéval et des inscriptions lapidaires y subsistent, et Josel de Rosheim (1478–1554), défenseur des Juifs d'Alsace, est son personnage le plus célèbre.
