Rivne (Rowne ou Równe), ville de Volhynie, possédait une communauté juive importante depuis le XVIe siècle. Au XXe siècle, les Juifs formaient près de la moitié de la population et animaient la vie économique et culturelle locale. Lors de la Shoah, la communauté fut liquidée en deux grandes opérations en novembre 1941 et juillet 1942.
