Ptolémaïs (Tolmeta) est une cité portuaire hellénistique de Cyrénaïque, fondée par les Ptolémées. Des inscriptions et sources historiques attestent une communauté juive ancienne dans cette région où la diaspora juive était particulièrement dense à l'époque hellénistique et romaine.
