Margilan, ancienne cité de la vallée de Ferghana (Ouzbékistan), abrita une communauté de Juifs bukhariotes connue pour son rôle dans la production et le commerce des soieries et de la teinture à l'indigo. Ces artisans-marchands juifs étaient actifs aux XVIIIe–XIXe siècles dans l'économie textile de la région.
